FAVORITE ACTIVITIES:
“Reading Circles” Readers:
Adults and teens needed to read children’s books to kids
whose reading abilities are below grade level or to
senior citizens in retirement communities and nursing
homes. Simple drama and art activities can be integrated
into the stories.
Greeters: Adults volunteers needed to help us
answer telephones and greet walk-in guests during the
busy week before a show opens.
Speakers: Adult and student volunteers needed to
make speaking presentations to local civic clubs. Help
us spread the word about the wonderful programs offered
by The Foundation of Arts
Ushers: Adults needed to help patrons find their
seats, collect ticket stubs, and pass out theater
programs at shows. Ushers also help set up and sell
concessions during intermission, and they receive a
complimentary ticket to see a production for free!
Set Crew: Responsible teens and adults needed to
help during set building. Experience is helpful, but
certainly not required. An extra set of hands can make a
big difference. Training is provided to those without
experience.
Backstage Crew: Responsible teens and adults
needed to assist behind the scenes of a show. Help move
set pieces into place between scenes, supervise groups
of children waiting to go on, or assist in costume
changes.
Mailing Helpers: Responsible teens and adults needed
to fold, stuff envelopes, staple, etc.
Seamstresses: Adults needed to help make and
alter costumes for shows. Experience is helpful, but
certainly not required. Anyone who can sew—from simple
alterations to full-scale construction—can easily become
involved as much as your time commitment allows.
Make-up Artists: Adults needed to design actor’s
make-up. They also help organize and keep inventory of
make-up supplies.
Arts Center Information Desk Helpers: Adults
needed to work at the Information Desk. Direct people to
the correct classrooms, answer basic questions about our
classes, give out brochures, etc.
Poster Hangers: Responsible teens and adults
needed to distribute posters to local businesses.
Actors: Anyone who ever wanted to act, from one
with no experience to the most seasoned actor, is
welcome to audition for our productions.
Follow-Spot Operator: The follow-spot is used to
accent the overall lighting of a show. Training is
provided.
Box Office Assistants: The Box Office Assistant
hands out the pre-sold tickets in the Will Call line.
Sound & Light Board Operators: Adults needed to
operate the lighting and sound systems during shows.
Actors for Traveling Mini Productions: If you
have free mornings or afternoons, this opportunity is
calling your name! Help us spread positive messages to
public school children through short skits designed
especially to address issues facing youth.
Teacher’s Assistant: Responsible teens and adults
needed to assist in large classes of young students in
The Arts Center.
Tour Guides: Adults needed to give guided tours
of The Forum Theatre and The Arts Center.

a production.
