Dear
Students and Parents,
I am thrilled to announce the cast of The
Sleeping Beauty. I spent a great
deal of time casting the roles, and feel
confident that each student will
individually shine in the choreography given
to them. Please remember that I considered
many factors when casting including
attendance (past and future), attitude and
work-ethic in class, improvement this
semester, knowledge of the choreography, and
the dancer's style and confidence. While
actually casting the dancers in roles adds a
unique element to Spring Showcase, all of the
students agreed that they enjoyed Rodeo
so much last year that they wanted to do
another "mini-ballet" this year. I
think this year's performance will be
wonderful.
Understudies were cast for most roles. In
the case of excessive unexcused absences by an
original cast member, an understudy will
replace them for Spring Showcase. If a
student has an excessive amount of absences
not listed on their conflict sheet, they may
be removed from the cast entirely. Spring
Showcase is a reflection of work done this
semester, and if the student has not been in
class very regularly, they will not perform.
There
will be two staging rehearsals forThe Sleeping
Beauty the two days prior to Spring
Showcase. Paperwork with times and details of these
rehearsals will be handed out during
Observation Week. Spring Showcase is May 3.
The Sleeping Beauty will be performed
at 6:00 p.m.
There
will be an opportunity for older dancers to
help paint and construct the set and also
assist with making head pieces. Details on
dates and times are coming soon.
Congratulations! Now the hard work really
begins!
